To insert a field into a precedent which is to be used across multiple matters, you will need to modify the overall precedent template.

You can find examples below of fields inserted into precedents for different scenarios. 

Addressing Clients

You may wish to customise how you address different clients at the top of a precedent based on different scenarios. You will need to set up certain fields to achieve this.

For the following scenarios, you can use the following setup outlined below:

• If the Client is a Company with 2 staff members, the Trading Name will be displayed, followed by their names.
• If the Client is a Company with 1 staff member, the Trading Name will be displayed, followed by their name.
• If the Client is a Company with no listed staff members, only Trading Name will be displayed.
• If the Client is an Individual, the Individual's name will be displayed.

See below for an example how to insert these fields:

1. To insert the Current Date:
   Select Table type = Matter
   Select Field = Current date
   
   Check Field Preview to view the data that the field contains.
   Double click Current Date to insert this field in the desired position.

2. Insert a field for the Company Trading Name:
   Table type = Client
   Field = Trading name

3. Insert a field for the ACN/ABN:
   Table type = Client
   Field = ACN/ABN number

4. If the Client is a Company and there are 2 Staff Members
   Insert a field for the staff member of the company:
   Table type = Client
   Field = Mr & Mrs both given names
