In order to enter any transactions into a trust account, the client's card must include a name and street address, at a minimum.

Trust money should be received into the trust account, banked and cleared before any trust cheques can be drawn, trust journals entered and/or money transferred from the trust account to the general account as a trust to office transfer.

As the trust ledger is required to display all transactions, any errors and corrections are displayed on the ledger.

Trust transactions contain 2 dates, the:

• Transaction Date - the actual date when the transaction occurred.
• System Date - the date that the transaction was entered into LEAP.

The entry date cannot be changed.

Trust register

The Trust Bank Account Register is the equivalent of a cash book, as it lists all trust cheques, trust receipts and trust bank deposits. In the trust register, you're able to:

• Search for transactions based on entry date or a range of dates.
• View the transaction and entry date for each transaction which is useful in the trust reconciliation process.
• See the balance in the last column of the register if the transaction has been reconciled.
• Open and reverse individual transactions with recourse to the matter.
