LEAP repeatedly crashing in background with heap corruption error

LEAP repeatedly crashing in background with heap corruption error

For at least the last couple of months my copy of LEAP has been crashing in the background every so often while working on Word documents.

Windows Event Viewer returns the following details for the most recent crash:

Faulting application name: LEAP Desktop.exe, version: 20.0.3.0, time stamp: 0x65f2461e

Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.26100.2454, time stamp: 0x7cb6b6a8

Exception code: 0xc0000374

Fault offset: 0x00000000000881f5

Faulting process id: 0xDAC

Faulting application start time: 0x1DB87CC8DE1A468

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\LEAP Office\Cloud\LEAP Desktop.exe

Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

Report Id: d22ab663-7783-4523-8192-881780c5affc

Faulting package full name:

Faulting package-relative application ID:

A web search for the exception code reveals that "0xc0000374" is a "heap corruption" error (meaning LEAP crashed because it was writing to memory in a place or way that it shouldn't). Is there any solution for this issue or do we need to wait for an update to fix this?

    Hi Oliver,

Thank you for providing the crash log details.

The crash appears to be caused by an environmental issue, as the faulting module is a .dll file located in the System32 folder.

To scan for and repair any potential system file corruptions, please follow these steps:

    1. In the Windows search function, enter "cmd"
    2. Right-click the "Command Prompt" option and select "Run as Administrator"
    3. Accept any incoming prompts
    4. In the Command Prompt window, enter sfc /scannow
    5. After the scan has finished, enter chkdsk
    6. After the process has finished, enter DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    7. After the process has finished, restart your computer

Additionally, please ensure that LEAP has been added to your Anti-virus and Firewall exceptions list.

If the crashing continues to occur, we would recommend reaching out to your IT support to run further troubleshooting.

Should you require any further assistance, feel free to reach out to our Support team by emailing support@leap.com.au

    Thank you,

    Shane

Lucas Amery, the latest version on LEAP website shows 2.5.146.0 (April 2025) and the Faulting application name: LEAP Desktop.exe, version: 20.0.3.0 which doesnt match. What is your LEAP current version that is installed?

We have a VHD environment, cpu/ ram are showing less than 50% and running fine.

We have several staff that are experiencing the same issue. When they open a FileNote/ template, LEAP existing windows crashes/ closes and the Filenote/ Templates windows stays open. Our Faulting application version is showing 20.0.5.0 when we have 2.5.146.0 installed.

LEAP needs to investigate why its trying to open the older version of LEAP. We've uninstalled LEAP Desktop version 2.5.518.0 too and installed 2.5.146.0 (April 2025) as per your website.
