Wow anyone else see the extensive list of what is resolved in the new version of Leap?

It is what it doesn't say that has me worried and frustrated, the list of issues mentioned are simple fixes. But what about being unable to open a document register without having to unarchive the matter? My list could go on though....

I'm not touching this update until the New Year. it would be good to have some reassurances from Leap that they have trialed this new update and we won't be left with problems leading up to what is the busiest time of the year. Not good timing - don't need bandaid fixes.

UPDATE WITH EXTREME CAUTION – I suggest if you have multiple users you reserve some systems with an earlier version that works.

My experience after The LEAP announcement email says ā€œThe new version includes improvements to LawConnect and Word integrations, as well as fixes to several issues you may have experiencedā€

So I upgrade with enthusiasm because the last release was a Word-integration disaster.

This is DAY TWO after upgrade.  FIRST day gave me multiple errors trying to work with Word.  So I agreeably spent hours pursuing help and having LEAP assistant on my system reinstalling software ā€˜repairing’ LEAP and Word and other tech stuff tweaking this new release… it all appeared quite thorough, so very good.

But here is DAY TWO after the ā€˜comprehensive fix’  and the following ā€˜Word Integrations’ are still broken:

ā€œCALL REJECTED PRINTā€ ALERT LEADING TO  WORD LOCKING UPā€

Open Doc, make changes, save, select PRINT – get alert box:

ā€œCall was rejected by callee. (Execution from HRESULT: 0x80010001 (RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED)ā€

Click OK and prints and saves normally, so maybe its OK but…

    NEXT document:

Create from ā€˜document’ precedent, save, send to print, prints Ok, then LOCKS WORD, completely, that document or any other Word window frozen – unable to close document, or open any other document, because ā€˜Word is Busy’ – requires me to open Task Manager and FORCE CLOSE Word to resume working. ?!?

I Force Close Word, then back to LEAP to keep working on the document – click to open it – when Word opens it also reopens the document it froze on as if it has been open all the time, along with the new document I just opened. Now I have to double-check what versions are what and was it saved or not.

Keep working and hoping for the best. Open another document, edit, click to SAVE and get alert:

ā€œCOM object that has been separated from its underlying RCW cannot be usedā€

Click OK, alert closes, try to save again, get the same alert, minimise Word to add this event to these error notes, go back to LEAP and try ā€˜TIME AND SAVEā€ and this time it saves. Then I am obliged to re-open the document to see if it has really saved my changes or not. Yes it has managed to save, but waste more of my time all at once.

Open next WORD document from Custom Precedent – Screen blips as if trying to open WORD, but nothing happens, Word does not open. Multiple tries.

Click on the WORD icon, which still shows as ā€˜application not open’  to open the application manually and although it was showing as word closed, immediately flips open a blank document without the usual Word startup, as if it has been open with a blank document the whole time. It does NOT open the document I has selected.

I go to Task Manager and Force Close Word (again!) – task manager thinks Word has multiple documents open but none of them can be displayed. After the force close I go to LEAP for my document and LEAP now opens the word document successfully.

PRINTING FIELD VALUES NOT TEXT – NOT ALLOWING TO SAVE WORK:

Work on document and make the mistake of trying to print it before I save it. Print dialogue opens normally; click on Print and print dialogue just closes, nothing is sent to print and Word doc is re-displayed but without the LEAP options in the ribbon. So I can’t save my work. Thanks. So I try to print my work, again, and this time the document displays in the print preview with all FIELD NAMES instead of the right field value text. If I proceed to print it will print as displayed – with field names. Useless. Regardless of whether I proceed to print or see the error in the preview and close the print preview, when it goes back to Word, the LEAP link is broken and I cannot same my work and have to do the work AGAIN hoping LEAP might work next time.

I OBJECT to being used as LEAP’s Beta Tester. I only see gross errors like this in bootleg software. Even the error-handling is broken. I should not be paying this monthly subscription for software that is regularly crashing.

Deeply frustrated at this result AFTER having a LEAP agent spend all that time ā€˜FIXING and TWEAKING’.

My system has already been ā€˜fixed’ by a LEAP rep to match this new released. And returned the above result.

Can LEAP advise how to proceed, or how to revert to a prior version that actually works, and avoid my business acting as LEAPs software Beta tester – its simply too frustrating and business breaking.

Oh my goodness thank you for the heads up...definitely will delay upgrading now!

Wow, what is Leap doing. Considering the cost involved with Leap this is totally unacceptable. At this rate we'll never update Leap

I'm the only one that updated in our office yesterday. The document register issue is fixed and so is the email as to content. The problem I have now is that once I save a draft email with attachments, I cannot open the draft email to then send it. I have to get someone else to open it and send it for me (this is a problem I have previously had issues with).

Oh my goodness, it is so frustrating - as if Leap doesn't cost enough, the time we waste on these types of errors is starting to be very costly. In 2023 it should now be more seamless, instead it becomes a bigger headache with each update. And as for waiting for a new platform for them to fix more serious issues....July to November to wait is not good enough. As insult to injury when we get new platform further issue!šŸ˜–

So far I have the following issues with the new version:

    LEAP changes & removes "From" column view in Outlook inbox since installation of new version;

Cannot assign emails to completed matters (not archived matters); and

Contacts are not showing in 'Select Contacts' when sending emails from LEAP - this is quite frustrating as every time we send emails we now have to go into the card details on the matter (e.g. agent, incoming mortgagee, client, etc) and manually copy and paste email address.

I've sent an email to LEAP Support yesterday with some other issues that I have from the previous version of LEAP (LEAP attempts to open matter on startup with error to log a call & LEAP sync hangs on exit), however have not received a response.

Jason here is my fundamental issue. Why change things that aren't broken? Clearly to prevent the "select contacts" coming up they have removed some coding....unnecessarily. Don't get me wrong I am not a programmer, but stop messing with things that are "right" you don;'t need to change and make something look new - the appearance is the least of our concerns....just correct the errors ONLY would be a good start Leap!

Anyone else finding that when you select to send a new email - the contacts for the file are missing. There are a few generic emails from the file, but majority are now missing

    • Christina Bakker (Customer)

Yes it is an issue with this new version. Let's hope Leap is actually reading this thread and they fix this up quickly and without the need for all of us to wait for a new "platform"...that excuse is growing tiring!
