Hi Trisha, we have done this in the past by sharing the file via LAW CONNECT. Back in the day, we used to be able to export a matter and either email it or send it on a USB, then whoever received it could just import it. Now, it is just law connect, or export every file to your desktop or USB and email it. It is very frustrating when you get a request for a file and it is so hard to actually facilitate it.
This is typical LEAP in my experience. Its like the tech guys think of a cool system that will work for lawyers and then build it without giving any thought to the day to day practicalities of working in a law firm. There should be an option to export the whole file and have it appear in files / sub-files to be able to then be re-imported back to LEAP at a new firm. But no doubt any suggestion to this effect to LEAP will fall on dead ears. @(AU) LEAP Marketing (LEAP) @LEAP Admin (Customer)
I also want LEAP to drastically improve this. There should be a checkbox method by which the current firm can select ALL documents and then take out the internal only memos and so forth, and then export the entire thing, retaining dates and folder structures etc.
I note we're currently limited to exporting 100 files at a time too, which can be frustrating in big files (particularly keeping track of where you were up to).
And not all other firms are willing to log in via law connect to access the file.
Correct Nathan ... plus even if the firm is willing to login to Law Connect to access the file, it has its own significant flaws in that you cant download all the items in bulk from Law Connect (which should be a solution available).
Everyone needs to upvote this Post in the Ideas Section of the Community -
"Transfer a whole matter to another firm/organisation also using Leap"
My understanding is that most of these posts in community go unnoticed and that LEAP will only consider stuff that is upvoted in that Ideas section. So if you havent done so, go to Ideas and search for that thread and upvote it.
