Reset the connection between LEAP and Microsoft Outlook with the steps below

Step 1. Check Outlook Add-ins and Configure Trust Center Settings:

1. In Outlook, go to File > Options > Add-ins.
2. Click Go next to Manage COM Add-ins.
3. Deselect to disable any third-party add-ins such as Adobe PDF and Adobe Document Cloud as they can conflict with the LEAP add-in (Microsoft add-ins are acceptable).
4. Ensure the LEAP Office for Outlook add-in is enabled.

Step 2. Verify Email and Data File Account Settings:

1. Open Outlook and go to File > Info > Click on Account Settings > Account Settings. 
2. This will launch the Account Settings window. Verify that email address in both the Email tab and the Data Files tab is the same one you use to sign into LEAP. Ensure that the email address has a tick next to it. Please note that IMAP/SMTP email accounts cannot be used.

Step 3. Enable Use Cached Exchange Mode to Download Emails to an Outlook Data File:

1. To enable Use Cached Exchange Mode, open Microsoft Outlook > click File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
2. Select your email address and then click the Change button.

   

3. This will launch the Exchange Account Settings window. Under Offline Settings, select and tick the option for Use Cached Exchange Mode.

   

4. Then click More Settings > Advanced tab. Tick to select Use Cached Exchange Mode. Tick to select Download shared folders. Click OK.

   

5. Exit and then restart Outlook. By default, 12 months of your email is available offline, but you can control how much mail is kept offline.
6. If you are still experiencing issues with LEAP and Outlook, please perform an Automation Repair. You may also need to run Outlook as an Administrator.

If you experience any of these issues, they can be resolved by following the steps to reset the connection between LEAP and Outlook:

• You cannot save emails to a LEAP matter.
• The "Save to Matter" icon does not appear in Outlook.
• Unable to open emails saved in a LEAP matter.
• Unable to send emails saved in a LEAP matter.
• Unable to open attachments.
• Unable to assign/create a new email in a LEAP matter
• Unable to share a document from a LEAP matter via Email Original, Email PDF or Email Link.
• Error attaching documents from a LEAP matter.
• When you open an email from a LEAP matter, the email body appears blank and the text is not visible.
• Emails generated in the matter are saving, but replies and forwards that you save to the matter are not appearing in the correspondence list.
• Unable to attach files from LEAP to Outlook — the screen remains stuck on the loading phase during the process.
• Once you select an email and click the Save to Matter, a LEAP window launches with a Matter List. If this window is blank, please carry out a LEAP Repair and Reset the Connection Between LEAP and Outlook.
• If you have saved an email to LEAP but are unable to locate it in the matter, you may need to check the Outlook add-ins and security settings as listed here.

If you experience any of these error messages, they can be resolved by following the steps to reset the connection between LEAP and Outlook:

• LEAP could not communicate with Microsoft Outlook. Would you like to run a repair?
• LEAP has experienced a communication problem. Please restart Microsoft Outlook and if the problem persists, please log a call and quote error code: 2;-7.
• LEAP has experienced a communication problem. Please restart Microsoft Outlook and if the problem persists, please log a call and quote error code: 2;-3.
• Object variable or with block variable not set.
• Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
• Exception from HRESULT: 0X8004010F.
• LEAP cannot remove a temporary file from the communications folder.
• LEAP could not create attachments
• Hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 1.
• The function cannot be performed because the message has been changed. Please Enable Use Cached Exchange Mode to Download Emails to an Outlook Data File as shown in Step 3 of Reset the connection between LEAP and Microsoft Outlook.
• Unable to subscribe to notifications. LEAP cannot complete this action.
• Value cannot be null. Parameter name: input

LEAP has limited compatibility with New Outlook. If you're experiencing issues with the integration or functionality of Outlook and LEAP, try switching back to the old version of Outlook (if applicable) by toggling off the New Outlook switch in the top-right corner.
