How to perform a clean install of LEAP

DISCLAIMER: This advice may include, but is not limited to, changes to the Windows Registry, Windows permissions, network settings, and antivirus/firewall settings. These actions should only be performed by an experienced IT support professional.

Purpose: A clean install of of LEAP removes previous files and folders before installing a fresh copy of LEAP.

When to use: If there are problems that cannot be resolved by other troubleshooting measures.

These are steps to do a clean install of LEAP.

  1. Please close any open Microsoft Office, LEAP and Adobe applications.

  2. Press the Windows key + R

    Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter

    This launches the Programs and Features window where you can Uninstall or change a program

    Find LEAP Desktop or LEAP conveyancer application > Right click > Uninstall

  3. Press the Windows key + R

    Type in %appdata% and press Enter.

    Delete the following folders (If a folder does not show, that's okay as not all folders will be on every profile)

    • 4D
    • LEAP Desktop
    • LEAP Legal Software

    DO NOT DELETE the LEAP Accounting folder as it will permanently delete all incomplete Timesheet entries. Once deleted, these entries cannot be recovered.

  4. Press the Windows key + R

    Type in %localappdata% and press Enter

    • Rename LEAP_Desktop to LEAP_Desktop.old

    • Delete following folders (If a folder does not show, that's okay as not all folders will be on every profile)
      – LEAP
      – LEAP Office Installations
      – LEAP_Legal

    Open the Microsoft Corporation folder

    • Delete folders with LEAP in the name

  5. Press the Windows key + R

    Type in %programdata% and press Enter

    • Rename LEAP Office to LEAP Office.old

    • Rename LEAP Accounting to LEAP Accounting.old

  6. Press the Windows key + R

    Type in %programfiles% and press Enter

    Delete following folders (If a folder does not show, that's okay as not all folders will be on every profile)

    • LEAP Office (If you have a message that the file is in use, restart your device.)
    • LEAP Legal Software

  7. Press the Windows key + R

    Type in %temp% and press Enter

    Delete the following folders (If a folder does not show, that's okay as not all folders will be on every profile)

    • 4D
    • LEAP
    • LEAP_Legal
    • LEAP_Cloud
    • LEAP_Desktop

  8. Download the LEAP Desktop installer or LEAP Conveyancer installer.
    Run the installer and accept the install prompts. 

  9. Once the LEAP install has completed, please do not reopen LEAP yet.

    To Integrate LEAP with Microsoft Office 365
    Press the Windows key + R
    Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter
    Select Microsoft 365 Apps > right click > Change > Quick Repair > Repair

  10. Launch LEAP
