TAS | Stamp Duty Updated

In accordance with the recent announcement by State Revenue Office of Tasmania, the property transfer duty concessions in LEAP have been updated. The updated rates apply to Exchange Dates from 1 January 2022 onwards and are as follows:
  • First home buyers purchasing an established home may be eligible for the First Home Owner duty concession of 50 per cent discount, on eligible established homes with a dutiable value of $600,000 or less
  • Pensioners who sell their former home in Tasmania and downsize by buying another home in Tasmania may be eligible for Pensioners Downsizing to a New Home duty concession of 50 per cent discount, on eligible homes with a dutiable value of $600,000 or less
The relevant rates will apply based on the Exchange Date entered – please ensure this has been entered in Calendar & Tasks, so that Stamp duty payable displays correctly in your Conveyancing & Property matters.
