NSW – Litigation (acting for multiple Defendants/Third Parties)

Please note that correct matter completion is required to ensure that the Court forms work correctly for the FILED FOR mergefield. When acting for one or more Defendants/Third Parties where multiple exist, it is essential that you read theNSW Litigation Information Sheet on LEAP Communities for instructions on correct matter setup for these scenarios. Where ONLY one Defendant If there is only one Defendant in the matter and they are your client, in the matter type you would choose the following: Client = Defendant Other Side = Plaintiff Other Side's Solicitor = Plaintiff's Solicitor Where multiple Defendants exist In situations where you act for an individual Defendant or more than one Defendant,(i.eacting for the Second Defendant but not the First Defendant, or acting for the First and Second Defendants but not the Third Defendant, etc)in the matter type you would choose the following: Client = Client Other Side = Plaintiff Other Side's Solicitor= Plaintiff's Solicitors Once you have entered your matter type, the 'Client' Card will appear and you need to enter your Client(s) Card details. You will then need to add 'Defendant' and 'Defendant's Solicitors' Cards to your matter by Editing Table Types. Once these Cards have been added and positioned in your matter, you will need to add ALL of the parties and Solicitor(s) in the order they appear in the Complaint.
