How To

When you add a second person to a matter, you'll need to decide whether to add them to the existing card or create a new card for them. If two or more people share the same address, they can be included together on the one card.

Add Cards to a Matter

To add cards to a matter in LEAP, follow these steps:

Open the matter.
Ensure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Right-click the relevant table type (e.g., Child, Spouse) where you want to add or assign a card.
Select New to create a new card, or Add from Card List to add an existing card.

If you're creating a new card, complete the details as necessary. See Creating a Card for more information.
If the table type is not listed in the matter details, follow these steps to add it:
- Right-click Matter Type
- Select Edit Table Type
- Tick the relevant table type to include it in the matter details.
For detailed instructions, refer to Editing Table Types.
Click Save & Close.

Add Two or More Parties at Different Addresses

If the individual parties in a matter do not share the same address, then separate cards should be created for each party.

Example:
If two friends are purchasing a property together, a separate card must be created for each individual, as their details will differ and they’ll be added to the matter separately.

To add multiple parties (eg. 2 purchasers) in a matter follow the steps below:

Open the matter.
Make sure that you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Right-click the table type where you want to add another party.
For example, (Purchaser)
Select New to create a new card, or Add from Card List to add an existing card.

If you're creating a new card, complete the details as necessary. See Creating a Card for more information.

You can also quickly add recently used cards to matter details. The recent card list will display the last ten cards you opened, edited or saved.
When multiple parties share the same role, LEAP will automatically number them in the matter table (e.g., Purchaser 1, Purchaser 2).
Click Save & Close.

This process enables you to add multiple cards with the same role to a matter, ensuring each party is recorded individually with their own contact details.

Add Two or More Parties at the Same Address

Open the matter.
Make sure that you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Open the card.

If the card relates to more than one matter, the new person will be added to all the matters. If you don't want this to happen, you'll need to create a separate card for the new person.
Right-click anywhere in the top table listing the existing client(s) then select Add Person.
Complete the Personal Details for the New Person.
Click Save & Close.

Remove a Card from a Matter

Open the matter.
Right-click the card then select Remove.
Click Save & Close.

If a card is set as the Client for a matter, the option to remove the card will not appear when you right-click on it. However, you can instead select Replace, then enter a different card as the client.

Click next to People on Card.
Complete the Personal Details for the New Person.
Click Save.

Remove a Card from a Matter

Open the matter.
Right-click the card then select Remove.
