Unable to Open Matters or Precedents Windows in LEAP

Fix issues causing the LEAP Desktop window to display incorrectly.

You may experience one or more of the following in LEAP Desktop:

  • LEAP Desktop window does not display correctly
  • Matters or Precedents windows do not open
  • Matter page appears as a blank white screen in the taskbar preview
  • Pop-up windows (e.g. Rename, Delete) do not appear
  • Windows open off-screen

These issues are typically caused by Windows display settings, including:

  • Incorrect primary monitor selection
  • Display resolution set too low
  • Scaling not suited to your monitor configuration

This is common when using multiple monitors or after disconnecting/reconnecting screens.

  1. Hover over the blank window in your Task Bar > right click > Maximize and click on (...) ellipsis icon on the top right corner of matter page and select Reset View.

  2. If you use multiple monitors:

    • Right-click your desktop and choose Display settings.
    • Under Multiple displays, try setting a different monitor as your main display.

    Switching your main display often resolves issues where LEAP freezes or becomes unresponsive when opening, renaming, or exporting a document.

  3. You may need to adjust your screen resolution to the recommended settings: 

    • Right-click on your desktop and choose Display settings.
    • Scroll down to the Scale and layout" section
    • Adjust the "Display resolution" and Scale.  LEAP supports a minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 720.
    • If the display looks correct, click Keep changes
    • If required, check the Scale percentage > Custom scaling to suit your monitor setup. For example 125%. Click the Tick icon to save your selection.

  4. Perform a LEAP Repair and Add LEAP to your Antivirus Exceptions list.

    These steps can help resolve a variety of user interface issues in LEAP, such as blank or unresponsive Matter windows, inability to preview documents, problems clicking, opening, or selecting elements,freezing when sharing documents, and issues selecting dates in the calendar.
