How To

Your AI Paralegal processes documents from your LEAP matter. It reads each document, classifies it, and names, files, and indexes them in its AI Managed folders, which are saved directly to your Correspondence list.

Your AI Paralegal also adds it to the disclosure schedule and updates the balance sheet where relevant. Processing typically takes 2 to 3 minutes.

AI Paralegal is only available to firms that have signed up for it. If you would like to see a demo, please send us a demo request.

Before you start

Save the documents to your matter's correspondence list.

Your AI Paralegal will:

Extract attachments from emails. You do not need to save the attachments separately.
Detect inline images in emails, such as a screenshot of a bank balance from a client's banking app, and offer to include them.
Extract the contents of zip files.
Handle scanned documents, photos, upside-down pages and poorly named files.
Flag possible duplicates rather than discarding them.

Supported File Types

Your AI Paralegal accepts the following file types, whether sent directly or found inside an email or zip file:

Documents	Images	Spreadsheets	Archives
pdf, docx	png, jpg, jpeg, tiff, tif, heic	xlsx, xlsm	zip

Files in other formats (for example, .doc, .txt, .pptx or .rtf) are not processed. Convert them to PDF or DOCX and resend.

Emails themselves (.msg or .eml) are supported as a container: your AI Paralegal extracts and processes the attachments and inline images within them.

Adding More Documents Later

Repeat the same steps whenever further disclosure arrives. Your AI Paralegal re-indexes the new documents into the existing AI Managed folders and you can then request an updated disclosure schedule or balance sheet.

FAQs

Do I need to unzip files or save email attachments first?

No. Send the email or zip file as is and your AI Paralegal extracts the documents.

Can I send some attachments from an email but not others?

Yes. Select the individual attachments in the correspondence list and send only those. In most cases it is simpler to send the whole email.

What happens with embedded images in emails?

They are detected automatically and listed on the upload screen. You choose which to include.

What if I send an unsupported file?

Your AI Paralegal will tell you which files are unsupported on the upload screen. The rest of the batch is processed as normal.
