Resetting the Connection Between LEAP and Excel

Purpose:  To resolve connection issues between Microsoft Excel and LEAP.

When to use: If there are problems with the LEAP add-in for Microsoft Excel.

Configure Excel Add-ins and Trust Center Settings

 

Please configure your Excel Add-ins and Trust Center settings as detailed below to resolve any connection issues between Microsoft Excel and LEAP:

  1. In Microsoft Excel, go to File > Options > Add-ins.

  2. Click Go next to Manage COM Add-ins.

  3. Deselect any third-party add-ins such as Adobe PDF and Adobe Document Cloud as they can conflict with the LEAP add-in (Microsoft add-ins are acceptable).

  4. Ensure LEAP Office for Excel is enabled and click OK.

  5. If you're still experiencing issues with LEAP and Excel, please follow these instructions to perform an Automation Repair. In addition to carrying out an Automation Repair, you may also need to restart your device if issues continue occurring.

Antivirus software and firewall solutions have an aggressive approach to protecting your computer. Sometimes they can block harmless files due to the file’s name, size, data or actions. To resolve this, Please add LEAP to your Antivirus Exceptions list.

Examples of issues that can be resolved by adjusting Excel Add-ins and Trust Center settings

 
  • Unable to open Excel documents from a LEAP matter
  • Difficulty saving documents
  • LEAP could not communicate with Microsoft Excel. Would you like to run a repair?
  • LEAP has experienced a communication problem. Please restart Microsoft Excel and if the problem persists, please log a call with the National Help Desk and quote error code: 3;-7.
  • Unable to get the Open property of the Workbooks class
  • If you encounter an error "Unable to close workbook until the current LEAP process has completed", please wait until the program displays "Ready" in the bottom left corner before updating the document.
  • Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A01A8
