Click the icon in the LEAP ribbon at the top of your matter screen.  Once loaded, you will be presented with the Child Support Estimator screen.

Enter the annual income amounts for both parties in the Income section. These figures are used to calculate each party's adjustable taxable income, which feeds into the child support calculation.
The following fields are available for each party:

• Taxable income

• Reportable fringe benefits

• Total net investment loss

• Net rental property loss

• Specified tax-free pension and benefits

• Target foreign income

• Reportable superannuation contributions

The Adjustable Tax Threshold is calculated automatically based on the figures entered above.

The Child Support Children section is where you enter the details of the children the child support calculation applies to.

If you have already added children to the matter in LEAP and recorded their date of birth, their name and date of birth will be pre-populated automatically. You will need to enter the Total nights and select the Frequency of care for each child.

The Frequency of care options are: per week, per fortnight, per month, or per year.

• To add an additional child manually, select the button.
• To remove a child, select the icon.

Other dependent children

If either party has other children from a separate relationship that they care for, these can be recorded in the Other Dependent Children section for the relevant party.

• Select + Add to record a dependant child.

The Results section displays the estimated child support payment, broken down per child and calculated across four payment frequencies: per week, per fortnight, per month, and per year.

The Payable by field indicates which party is responsible for making the child support payment.

A Totals row at the bottom of the results table shows the combined estimated yearly payment across all children.

Results update automatically as income, children, and care arrangement details are entered - no manual calculation is required.

At any time, you can export your child support estimate to a LEAP Word precedent document by selecting the Export Scenario button at the bottom right of the screen.

The Export Scenario button includes a dropdown with two options:

• Export Scenario - exports the currently active scenario to the LEAP precedent document.
• Export All Scenarios - exports all scenarios to the LEAP precedent document.

Create and store multiple child support estimates within the same matter. This is ideal for modeling alternative arrangements such as income changes, or different care arrangements, and the impact this has on the calculations of an estimate of child support payments.

To add a new scenario, select the  icon at the top of the Scenarios panel. Income values from the currently active scenario will be carried across automatically. If children have been added to the LEAP matter, their names and dates of birth will also be pre-populated. Total nights and frequency of care must be entered manually for each new scenario.

To delete a scenario, hover over it in the scenarios panel and select the Delete icon to remove it.

Chat with AI is a conversational assistant built into Child Support Estimator. It allows you to ask natural language questions about the active scenario and receive AI-generated answers in real time.

To open, select Chat with AI in the top right of the screen.

Type your question into the Ask about the estimate... field and select the send icon.

Chat with AI has access to the income data, children, other dependent children, and estimate results for the active scenario. It can answer questions about how results are calculated, what income components are included, and how scenarios compare.

Example questions you might ask include:

• Why is one party paying more than the other?
• How does the dependent child deduction affect the result?
• What would the estimated annual payment be under a different care arrangement?

Chat with AI will only answer questions related to the child support estimate. It will decline questions that are outside the scope of the estimator.

Party names displayed throughout the estimator are set from the LEAP matter by default.

If you need to update these, select Settings in the top right of the screen.

From the Settings page you can edit the Client name and Other Side name fields.

Select Save to apply the changes or Cancel to discard them.

To restore the original names from the LEAP matter, select Set from LEAP.
