VIC - Powers of Attorney - Critical Dates

Following client feedback, the Critical Date scheme for VIC Power of Attorney matter types has been updated to display the following dates:
  • Appointment of medical treatment decision maker executed

  • Appointment of medical treatment decision maker accepted

  • Power of Attorney (personal matters) executed

  • Power of Attorney (financial matters) executed

  • Power of Attorney (personal matters) accepted

  • Power of Attorney (financial matters) accepted

The Enduring Power of guardianship Critical Date has been removed as it no longer exists in Victoria.

This updated Critical Date scheme will display by default in all newly created Power of Attorney matters. To enable the updated Critical Date scheme to display in existing Power of Attorney matters (i.e. created before 16 June 2021), please refresh your matter - to refresh your matter, change the Matter Type (e.g. Power of Attorney --> Will - 1 person) before reverting back to original Matter Type (e.g. Will - 1 person --> Power of Attorney). Similarly, if you would like for the updated date scheme to display in your Recurring Matters please refresh the Matter Type by modifying the master copy of the relevant Recurring Matter template. Further details on Recurring Matters and Critical Dates are available on the Help Centre.
