FED - Intellectual Property Matter Type Changes

As a result of user feedback some enhancements have been made to the defaultIntellectual Property Matter Types within LEAP. These changes differ depending on the type of matter chosen and have been made to better capture information within your different matters for Intellectual Property applications. The matter types affected are -
  • Trade Marks
  • Designs; and
  • Patents

  • New table for ‘Family Code' – this is where you can devise your own code ie Client Name abbreviation, Trade Mark Type and Country eg FC-TM001-AU1 – where the client name is First Choice Cleaning Pty Ltd, TM001 refers to a Trade Mark application and this is their first application, AU1; Country = Australia –this will then populate on your matter list where you can sortall matters for the one company together;
  • Dates previously contained on the Trade Mark Details layout are now listed on the Critical Date scheme and will automatically populate in the Trade Mark Details layout however if updating is required these will need to be done via Matter Details. These dates include –
    • Lodgement Date;
    • Acceptance Date;
    • Advertisement Date;
    • Opposition Period Expiry Date;
    • Renewal Date;
    • Registration Date – this is a new date;
  • The Trade Mark Details layout now includes -
    • Registration Date;
    • Serial Number has been re-labelled ‘Application Number'.
  • New default Cards for –
    • Overseas Lawyer;
    • Renewal Agent;
Designs matter typechanges
  • New table for ‘Family Code' – this is where you can devise your own code ie Client Name abbreviation, Design Type and Country eg FC-D001-AU1 – where the client name is First Choice Cleaning Pty Ltd, D001 refers to a Design application and this is their first application, AU1; Country = Australia – this will then populate on your matter list where you can sortall matters for the one company together;
  • Design Details layout changes include –
    • Entity size – dropdown list including these options –
      • Micro;
      • Small
      • Large
    • Max Expiry Date;
    • Earliest Priority Date;
    • Priority Application;
    • Priority Country; and
    • Number of claims.
  • Dates that were previously listed on the Details Details layout are now listed on the Critical Date scheme and will automatically populate in the Design Details layout. However, if updating is required these will need to be done via Matter Details. These dates include –
    • Max Expiry Date
    • Priority Date.
  • New default Cards for–
    • Assignee;
    • Overseas Lawyer; and
    • Renewal Agent.
