Earlier this year, Microsoft made a change to how application permissions are handled within Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory). This update affects how certain apps, including LEAP’s Microsoft Teams integration, connect to Microsoft services. LEAP has recently made a backend change to update the way it connects to Microsoft Teams.
As a result, you may be prompted to re-authorise your Microsoft permissions to continue using certain features within the Teams integration. Whilst the change is only related to the Teams integration, all permissions that LEAP requires access to, if you are integrated with Microsoft, will be displayed on the prompt to reauthenticate. To update your permissions:
- Your Microsoft Administrator should navigate to LEAP > Menu > Settings > Application Settings
- Select Integrations > Microsoft 365
- Select Renew Admin Consent and follow the Microsoft prompts.
What Has Changed?
Microsoft has implemented a new, more secure default for app consent settings in Entra ID. This change is part of Microsoft’s wider security initiative to limit which users and applications can access permissions. Previously, many Microsoft tenants allowed users to grant certain permissions themselves. Under the new configuration, these specific permissions can only be approved by an administrator.
